Motorcyclist killed on Randolph County poker run
David L. Straight, 53, of Chester, died Saturday evening after his motorcycle ran off the Shawneetown Trail. Coroner says the westbound bike flipped several times in a field during a memorial poker run for another Chester man. He was a Rozier's Country Market receiving manager and St Mary's Church member. Surviving wife Linda, two stepdaughters, seven siblings, plus many relatives. Memorial service Tuesday at St Mary's. visitation tonight at Pechacek McClure Funeral Home. Memorials to the family.

A late Saturday crash on Ridgway New Haven Road left two injured. Michael Bonneville 22 and passenger Stephanie Martin 31 were taken to Ferrell Hospital Eldorado. Bonneville cited for DUI driving while license suspended and improper lane usage. Ridgway police and fire helped at the scene. Watermelon Fest Welcomes SIU Carbondale Students

Benton woman who battled cancer dies after lung transplant
Brittany Nichole Shurtz of Benton died Saturday from complications after rejection of her second double lung transplant. She fought cancer since age 15, endured Ewing's sarcoma and chemotherapy, graduated Benton High School in 2008, and spent her final days at home with her family and Cujo by her side.
