Bald Knob Cross in boardroom clash over stewardship
A 43 year old landmark, Bald Knob Cross of Peace near Alto Pass, faces a power struggle on its 18 member board. Newer members accuse elders of mismanaging funds and overmarketing the site while older members defend the founders’ intent and seek accountability. The dispute follows decades of fundraising and aging upkeep with rusted panels and improvised repairs, amid personal feuds over a large loan for the visitor center and questions about donor funds and transparency.
