Storm damages Zeigler as winds topple trees and cut power
A sudden storm battered Zeigler and Pershing area causing widespread tree and limb damage, power outages, and property destruction with no injuries reported. By 8:30 p.m. power was restored in parts, Birch Street blocked by downed lines, and crews worked from a generator aided command post at the Zeigler fire station.

Marion group stranded in London after terror plot
An 11 member Marion missionary group traveling from Zimbabwe to Southern Illinois was stranded at Heathrow Airport in London on Thursday after British officials uncovered a suspected terrorist plot.
