Carterville and Crainville Form Fire Protection Pact
Carterville and Crainville approved a first time fire protection agreement. Carterville will provide one year coverage to Crainville for 1200 dollars plus 100 dollars per call, billed monthly. Carterville previously handled about two to three calls yearly for Crainville, earning about 250 dollars from property owners and village funds. Also, Carterville proposed annexing a 4 acre tract northwest of town at the initiative of the Bank of Illinois, Mt. Vernon, owner of the land and 20 apartments, requiring water service and nearly 2500 feet of pipe laid at the bank’s expense before hookup. The apartments were formerly Rex Donaldson’s in Carbondale, now owned by the bank after foreclosure.
