State Department to Hold Merit Examinations for Jobs

Woodrow Boren, co owner of Boren s IGA Foodliner in Herrin, named an IGA senator. Wetterau Grocer Co Inc, Hazelwood MO, launched the senator program to connect retailers with suppliers. Recreation Site Work Under Way Near Interstate 57
Johnstion City developers George and Joe Jansco advance an $800,000 recreation complex at the Herrins Johnston City interchange. Plans include a ball field a nine hole golf course bowling alley a 60 unit motel lakes for fishing and boating and a mile long access road to the site. The golf course contour is natural and leveling will start after the road is completed with play possibly by July or August 1964. General Telephone plans a concrete block warehouse on West Center Street in Carbondale, 60 by 70 feet, to replace the rear area, with completion expected in about four weeks.
