Deaf DACA recipient jailed by ICE then sent to Texas
Javier Diaz Santana, a 32 year old deaf and mute DACA recipient from Los Angeles, was seized during an ICE raid at a Temple City car wash. He was transported to El Paso, Texas, in handcuffs, without effective communication, then released on bond after weeks of detention. He faced isolation, legal uncertainty, and a lengthy path to return home to California with an ankle monitor.
