Years after killings a doctor remembered differently
Dr John Dale Cavaness, a physician, was once suspected in the 1977 shotgun death of his son Mark Dale Cavaness at a family catfish farm near Galatia. Investigators later tied the elder son’s death to his brother Sean’s 1960s style slaying, but no charges were filed against him then. In 1984 he was arrested in St Louis for murder of his son and later died by hanging in prison awaiting trial.
