Pinckneyville council blocks bluegrass festival plan
Pinckneyville officials tabled the bluegrass festival at the Perry County Fairgrounds after no motion was made at the city council meeting. Organizers argued the event would draw crowds and that security would be provided, but council concerns over law enforcement and three days of activities prevailed. Don Braun of the fair board criticized the decision as inaction and warned of lost business. In other business, the council awarded Provart Construction a 1650 contract for main grand stand roof repairs and approved a 46000 streets program for 1981.
