Second Berry Festival Goes Over Big
The second annual strawberry festival drew a larger crowd from nearby towns despite cooler weather. Highlights included free performances, a berry culture lecture by L. P. Wilcox, a Marshfield American Legion drum corps parade, and the crowning of Miss Karama McKay as Strawberry Festival Queen with attendants and train bearers. City Library Gets $100 From Chamber of Commerce
Executive committee of the chamber of commerce met at the Hamm cafe Tuesday evening and appropriated $100 to the city library board to support the library. In School District No 2 a director election drew 126 ballots the largest ever. S S Reed held the seat with 84 votes while Frank Southmayd received 40. supporters cited Southmayd as capable but the majority favored continuity with Reed.
Mrs Clausen Sails to Visit Parents in Germany
Mrs Clausen of Broadbent received a New York dated letter and soon sailed for Germany to visit her parents. She traveled from Los Angeles by trans continental train crossing the southern states and ferried across the Mississippi at New Orleans. On the Los Angeles train were Mr and Mrs Jack Dempsey whom she met during the journey.

Cement pours begin for Myrtle Point hotel project
Cement pouring for the piers of Myrtle Point's new four storey hotel started this morning under Foreman Farquhar of I. L. Young Construction Co. The old three story hotel was moved rearward to become part of the site, with a glass front facelift on Spruce street and a Fifth street side rebuilt with glass. The Dal M. King confectionery provides access to the hotel and Bowers barber shop, while Russell Baking access is via the alley. Work on Security bank and Fred True buildings continues, two stories high, under Jenen Reyes. The new junior school between A and B streets on Maple progresses, slated for September readiness.

The second funds refunding warrants for a pump and reservoir repairs. precinct 55 reports 41 yes and 12 no, precinct 54 48 yes and 9 no. Objections matched across precincts with 12 in 66 and 9 in 64.

Hogging the road causes accident near bandon
Miss Kathryn Dunham of the Dunham store Suffern suffers severe bruises and nerve shock after a Sunday morning auto crash five miles before Bandon. She followed a car that would not let her pass, and when the front car then swung out she braked hard, the vehicle left the grade and overturned. She was taken to Queen City General Hospital.
