Local reports note a long winter with deep snow in Eden valley where Jap Jarvis spent summer on business and plans to bring in cougars someday. A nostalgic brick bearing the inscription Anna May 24 91 was found at a school site, likely from the Giles family.
At the La Grande convention July 21 22 28 the Old Oregon Trail fire pageant will be staged. Living fire scenes include Captain Vancouver ships wagon train battles and the Bridge of the Gods. Figures of Governor Oregon and Chief Joseph appear along with a world war scene a doughboy the anarchist shells and aerial bombardments. A large American Legion emblem Old Glory and a dramatic rendition of our national anthem close the show.
Senator Jeredierick Steiner toured Whig section of the state during the jitter week visiting Gold Beach Port Orford Floras Lake Bangleis Bandon Coquille and nearby counties spending a day fishing at Lakeside. The editor notes no visit to Myrtle Point and reports Dal M Kits did not extend an invitation to speak at Gravel Ford committee.
Henry A. Perry of Myrtle Point and Mary A. Goodrich of Coquille wed at the Presbyterian manse with Rev. C. C. Houlet officiating. Mrs. G. N. Goodrich, mother of the bride, accompanied the couple. They plan to establish a home on a Gravel Ford road ranch.

Miss Crystal Guerin, a high school graduate and former Dr. Bunch’s office helper, leaves next week for Glendale California to begin a three year nursing program. She will drive with her cousin Alden Devoer who is visiting.
