City Council Passes Gambling Ordinance and Accepts Resignations

The city council adjourned session approved a new gambling ordinance barring punchboards and other gambling devices and card games played for winnings. They accepted the resignations of Councilman A Harrington and City Health Officer Dr Clarke, appointing Lloyd Spires and Dr Pemberton respectively.

Death of Esther Marie Fields at New Year

Esther Marie Fields died on New Years Eve from a morrhage after a minor operation. She was 15 years old and the daughter of Mr and Mrs Wm Fields of the city. She was buried at Bear Creek on Friday. funeral officiated by Rev. Barklow. The note includes several local errors and misstatements from the previous week’s issue.
