Myrtle Point plans fair with aeroplane stunts and lights

The upcoming Cops and Curry courtly fair will feature aeroplane flights by the Oregon Washington Idaho Aeroplane company with daily stunt shows and passenger flights. Boxing, dancing, rides, and a Ferris wheel are planned, plus a four-page advertising section and a four-column site layout for the official program and local news.

Forged Check Return Near Douglas County

City Marshal Radell reports that Ed Sink, a young man suspected of issuing worthless checks, has fled toward New York after enlisting in the U.S. Cavalry. Authorities were notified to intercept and detain him until the county sheriff arrives. A $15 check drawn on the First National Bank of Eugene was returned to Holt-Chase Cannery manager A. C. Chase as forged, with Sink previously connected to Cannery transactions.

Agriculture in Fifteen Oregon High Schools

Fifteen Oregon high schools have qualified for Smith Hughes vocational funds. Dean E. D. Ressler of Oregon A. A. C. notes no teacher shortage and sees agriculture as a promising field. He hopes many OA C students take courses next year as Oregon requires a four year agriculture program with fifteen semester credits.

League Officials Visit Myrtle Point for Dairymen’s League Work

Oregon Dairymen's League officials Albert Hall and R. Keller visited Myrtle Point on league business. Hall praised progress of the cooperative movement and noted factory changes saving $15 a day while reallocating staff. The Myrtle Wood plant will reopen for the coming season as the league expands operations to Parkerburg and diversifies milk routes. In a separate case, Officer Radell arrested H A Thomas and his son Charles for illicit liquor manufacture and sale near Powers road. A quart bottle and a gallon jug were seized. Thomas homestead search uncovered hidden liquor. four mash barrels found but no still. deer carcasses found but not tied to the suspects. Both men were jailed in Coquille pending federal investigation.

Evergreens push for a busy harvest as A Co Chase foresees a strong picking season. The cannery offers seven cents a pound for berries and transport to plants, with expected pack value rising from last year’s ten thousand dollars to between fifteen and eighteen thousand.

Fire at Camp Three Destroys Logs and Timber

A blaze at Camp Three north of Powers broke out Tuesday at 3 am and burned fiercely. Much machinery and logging equipment had been moved to safety but cedar logs and timber were ruined. The company faces several thousand dollars in losses after prior damage at Camp Two, worsening operations.
