Great Work by SUNUOL Industrial Club Focused on Canning

About twenty industrial club members and mothers met at the Myrtle Point schoolhouse to hear Miss Doolittle of the O A C discuss club work with emphasis on canning. The event highlighted federal support to place a full time county coordinator, with local costs only for travel, and urged Coos County Court action at the next meeting.

Editorial Association Meets at Marshfield

The State Editorial Association convenes in Marshfield for three days starting Friday. On Sunday they tour Cy quille Valley and Myrtle Point then Broadbent and Coquille creamerys, with a seafood dinner in Bandon before returning to Marshfield. Local hosts hope the trip showcases the region’s dairy and coastal resources for Coos county. Mrs. C E Broadbent, visiting from California, renews her subscription with her daughter accompanying her.

Farmers Picnic at Norway Grove Draws Big Crowd

The Farmers and friends gathered at Norway Grove for an all day union and Grange picnic with speeches and singing. Notables included Rev. Roberts The Glee Club Miss Ora Ray State Dairy Inspector Mickle State Senator Walter M Pierce and State Grange Master Spence. The program featured recitations by Dr Glarke and Earl Smith and praise for the event by Mrs W Lee Ray.

Glee Club Concert Delights With Solo and Chorus

Henery Schroeder performed a solo and joined with Mr. and Mrs. Annin and Mrs. Pemberton for a quartette of The Man behind the Summer and the Plow. Mrs. Pemberton sang I know a Place Where the Sun is Like Gold with clear tone. Lola Ray offered Marching on to Berlin and drew applause. The Glee Club featured A Busy Little Bee and Dr. Clarke delivered Tim Going Home to Blighty.

Gentleman from Fair view Dies in Farm Accident

Word reached yesterday that Wm. Cotton of Fair view died after a farm accident Tuesday. While mowing a frightened team ran away and crushed him, breaking ribs on one side. Dr. Hamilton and Lieut. Coke attended, but he died about three hours later. The community extends sympathy to the bereaved family.

Freak of Nature Beet Grows Unusually Tall in Stringtown Garden

In Stringtown, William A Harris cultivates a beet that produced a four inch diameter stem and a height near ten feet. He plans to transplant it into a large tub for the upcoming fair and expects ample seed from this single plant to sow over an acre.

Willamette Valley Breeding Stock Prospects Highlighted

Wayne Dinsmore of the Percheron Society of America predicts a heavy advance in prices for heavy draft horses in Oregon.
