Crerar Memorial Women Open Fall Meeting Sunday

The Crerar Memorial Presbyterian Church Women will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday in the church social hall at 8100 South Calumet Avenue. A panel discussion on the National Council of Presbyterian Women meeting in June at Purdue University will follow the business program with delegates Harriet Studer and Eileen Peth from Crerar Church. Musical entertainment will feature Kay Moore with Laura O’Neil, and devotions will be led by Julia Murray.

South Shore Garden Club Opens Fall in Foster Park

The Garden Club of South Shore begins its fall season with a 12 30 pm meeting at the Foster Park field house on 83rd and Loomis. Kenneth Johnson of Holiday Florists will present a talk on flower arrangement. Co chairs are Mrs. Elmer Groves and Mrs. Fred Seipp with Mrs. George LaMont. A card party on September 26 will be hosted at president Mrs. V. Andersons home.

The Catholic Social Club of Southeast Chicago hosts an Over 21 Dance on September 7 at 8 30 p m in Calumet Post Hall at E 100th Street and S Crandon. The Jim G Koufos Quartet will be featured.

Southeast servicemen on tour reach across deserts seas

Southeast area service members appear in reports from Okinawa to Lebanon and Germany. Marines in Camp Hague with the 12th Regiment include Pfc Walter C Wright Jr and Pfc William J Donnelly. Army Sp4 Melvin Flippin serves with Task force 201 in Lebanon. Five privates finish basic training at Fort Leonard Wood. Other crews include Navy sailor Richard F Novek aboard USS Pom fret and various soldiers on Okinawa and Germany assignments.

Hadassah Opens Season With Guest Lyric Star Jeanne Diamond

Grads Leave For India From U S Steel Training

A dozen Indian engineers, trained at U S Steel south works for a year, depart to help manage India's new steel plants. The group of 12 is part of 200 Indian graduates placed in U S steel plants nationwide under Ford Foundation and In Step programs. Eight will work at a plant in India built by a West German firm, four at a plant built by a British firm.

Selichos Prayers Inaugurate Jewish High Holiday Season

Penitential Selichos begin across Southeast congregations with late night and early morning services. Highlights include Rosh Hashana on September 15 16 and Yom Kippur on September 24 at numerous synagogues led by cantors and choirs.
