Walgreens official faces embezzlement arraignment tomorrow

William J. Cooney, 50, of 7150 Cyril Ave, is to be arraigned in Criminal Court before Judge Harold Ward on a charge of embezzlement. Indicted last week, he allegedly stole between 75000 and 100000 over ten years from Walgreens stock purchase installments he handled.

Two Pre School Kids Die In Separate Traffic Crashes

Two Southeast side children ages five and three were fatally injured in separate traffic accidents this week. David Peters, age five, suffered a fractured skull and internal injuries when found in an alley behind his home on 87th Place. Annie Young, age three, died in another crash involving the Young family at 7611 Paxton Avenue.

Student Receives Diploma at Bedside

Philanthea Club Urges Care for South Shore High Grounds

Grand Crossing to Hold Mammoth July 4th Event

Grand Crossing Chatham celebrates Independence Day with an all day festival at Grand Crossing park near 76th street and Ingley side avenue. The event features 30 softball teams in elimination play and a tennis tournament for all ages. Decorated bicycle parade races and awards are planned.
