Cub Scouts from pack No 8759 raised funds and presented a four wheeled walker to the Martha Washington Home for dependent crippled children. The device aids spastic pupils during physiotherapy at the home on Drexel Boulevard. The gift was announced in Grand Crossing park fieldhouse ceremonies.

James C. Holmes dies longtime South Side printer
James C. Holmes, 80, of 6724 Ridgeland ave., who ran a South Side printing plant for 53 years, died after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at 5522 Halsted st. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery. Holmes, born in Milford, Illinois, moved to Chicago in 1891 and opened a Halsted street firm in 1893. He was active in Masonic orders and Lions Club. his son Wendell now operates the business.

Evangeline Isabelle Goodwin died December 9 at her home 7507 Jeffery Ave after a five year illness. Funeral services were held Saturday at Our Lady of Peace church with burial in St. Mary cemetery. She was the wife of criminologist George F. Goodwin and mother of Helen R. Forest. She leaves a granddaughter and two great grandhildren.
