Plan Tag Day For Little Cripples

A tag day campaign is planned by the Dren's Home Society to aid crippled children. The event calls for public support and generosity to help the charity provide care and facilities for young patients.

Next Saturday June 29 South Haven hosts Tag Day to raise funds for the Michigan Children's Home Society aiding crippled and dependent children. A committee led by Mrs Jara Fletcher will coordinate from Citizens State Bank with hopes of a generous response after prior years' success. The society funds dependents through subscriptions while crippled children receive support via Tag Days Flower Days and similar drives.

Pere Marquette 5 Makes First Lake Trip

Pere Marquette No 5 chartered by Chicago South Haven to alternate with Petoskey on night runs arrived from Chicago at 4 30 this morning and will depart at 9 tonight. The vessel boasts 110 state rooms with a capacity of 1600 passengers and is among the largest freight and passenger boats on the Great Lakes. The public is invited to inspect the ship at the dock as it lies in port with manager W S Cochran and Mrs Kitzinger among visiting guests.

Cribs for Pier Extensions Half Done Amid Dredging Finish

Two of four large cribs for the pier extensions are about half completed as pile driving begins. Dredging finished yesterday and foundations, cribs to be completed in about a week. The cribs will be sunk into position on the foundations soon after the Fourth of July.
