Dunkley-Williams to Operate Colonial Hotel as Summer Presort
The Colonial Hotel will be operated by Dunkley-Williams Co as a summer presort hotel and cafe and kept as a commercial hotel year round. An arcade with a Turkish dome, band stand, fountain, and fifty souvenir stalls will connect to the dining room. Steam heating planned for about forty rooms, with interior decorations by H. H. Engel. Completion aimed for around July 4, but likely two weeks later.

Gas meter robbers arrested by South Haven police
Two German youths aged twenty and nineteen, Gottfried Merz and John Lueben, were arrested about 5 30 pm by Chief of Police McGregor for breaking open and robbing a gas meter at the Van Pelt and Merson building owned by the Gas Co on May 23 They appeared before Justice W W Holmes and were sent to Paw Paw for examination They had only been in town a few hours before the burglary and escaped but were recaptured when they returned yesterday McGregor had been watching for them since their escape and they thought South Haven would be easy money

Sunday Excursions on Fruit Belt Line to Kalamazoo

A special train arranged by J. G. Shoe string delays in river lighting pipe project
A diver for Grayling Bros. reported missing kit shoes in the morning, delaying work to dig a trench under the river dock. Workers used hydraulic pressure to widen the opening for the river to lana pipe, with plans to assemble two pipe sections underwater and connect them beneath the water. The project will continue through the week with upcoming tasks including a power house shaft and a producer gas engine outfit in early August.
