General Villa reports decisive victory at Zacatecas with 2,000 killed and 4,000 wounded. Rebels capture 5,000 prisoners, 6,000 rifles, 12 cannon and nine ammunition trains. General Barron flees toward Aguas Calientes with five generals, while Can tone and Velasco forces may join for a larger federal counter.
San Luis Potosi Térreon Mexico June 25 bulletin says Constitutionalists under General Tor res captured the area. Despatch reports heavy losses for the opposing force and a retreat toward Agua Calientes.
A romantic quiet wedding was solemnized Wednesday June 24 at Myrtle Lodge under shade trees. Miss Beatrice M Oll and Albert Meisner of cage were joined by Rev. J Wendall Davis of Marshall Michigan. Following the ceremony a tea was served then a motor trip. Guests were from Delhaven and Englenook. The bride and groom are well regarded in Chicago and South Haven friends wish them happiness. Mrs Meiser will stay two more days then may return Sunday night. Birth notice: See Mrs August Teske 19 a pound son.
The marriage of Miss Sue Lucile Hawley to J Robin Spen ger of Chicago occurred Wednesday at 2 p m on the lawn of the bride's parents north of the city in a ceremony attended by about sixty friends. Rev Augustine Jones officiated.
County Agent A F Hurlbut arrived in Paw Paw with Edward McCarty and John Burns, the youths who broke into a drug store Tuesday night. They will be held a few days while records are checked, then possibly sent to the Industrial School in Lansing. If McCarty proves older than sixteen he may face burglary charges.
Detroit June 25 Ty Cobb pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace before Police Justice Jeffries and was fined 50 dollars. W L Carpenter the butcher who pressed the case said he would file a civil suit for damages due to the threat of a revolver.
Petoskey June 25 With Grand Rapids delegation arriving by morning Elk visitors pass 5 000 mark 300 strong with representatives from Traverse City Cheboygan Cadillac and Alpena. Shierley Stew art of Port Huron retired vice president and elected president by state convention. Charles Cartier of Ludington is new vice president defeating Julius Ippel and C S Riley. Other officers named George Bostock Ann Arbor Chas Mayworm Port Huron John Gibson Port Huron and Wm Gillette Traverse City. Grand Rapids chosen as next year’s convention site over Sault Ste Marie.
In Ann Arbor on June 25 the University of Michigan awarded 1 004 earned degrees and 15 honorary degrees at its seventieth annual commencement.
The Michigan Bar association wrapped up its annual convention in Flint with technical discussions on important legal issues. Speakers George W. Miller of Chicago and Glen R. Faling of Kalamazoo addressed state power over substituted or corrective service and oppressive garnishments respectively. Officers to be elected, resolutions read, and committee reports presented in the afternoon. Delegates were hosted by Genesee County Bar at a Flint Country Club luncheon.

Boy Scouts describe arrival at Camp of the Woods Mich on June 22 1914. The launch flooded and refused to start. Lifesavers towed the disabled craft with passengers including Rev Hughes. Camp routine included swimming fishing devotions and strawberry shortcake. Nightly rain and mosquitos disturbed sleep but camp marked a rough but successful outing.

Butter output last week surpassed a ton with 2,080 pounds churned while butterfat price remained 28 percent cents week over week. Early week production hit about 1,500 pounds and Saturday’s churn brought the total near two thousand pounds. A previous misread tally swapped 1,285 and 1,825 pounds for week before last due to typesetting error.

John J. Clement lies in state at the Congregational church after a prayer service at his home. Pomona Lodge Knights of Pythias escorted his funeral procession from house to church to cemetery. Funeral speaker Rev Jones praised Clement's integrity, kindness, and steadfast church involvement, noting his Easter joining and long service at Hale stores. Hymns were sung by a quartet, with bearers from his Hale associates. Relatives and friends from Gobleville, Hartford and beyond attended.
The city’s commercial life paused for an hour today in honor of John J. Clement. Downtown stores and offices closed after 10 o’clock and remained shut until about noon. Hale & Co. closed earlier around 8:30, with other shops soon following. White carnations tied with lavender ribbons marked the entrances as a somber tribute.
Mrs. B. Nelson was bitten severely by a dog while passing Dreamland and the Black River on her way to the city. The wound was treated with antiseptics and further consequences are not expected. She continued her journey after treatment.
