Epworth League Convention to Convene in Battle Creek
The tenth Michigan Epworth league convention will meet in Battle Creek from Thursday to Sunday with about 700 delegates and notable figures such as Bishop Joseph F. Barry Rev Frank Gunsaulus Rev Edwin H Hughes and Dr St Herbes. Each delegate receives a four coupon ticket for lodging and meals. Dinner and supper will be served downtown and breakfast at homes. Ralph Cleveland and Roy Taylor were elected delegates from the South Haven Epworth League.

At the last board meeting a resolution told the secretary to ask physicians to report contagious diseases to the librarian so no books go to homes with illness. Physicians should report by phone or otherwise when homes are fumigated and fit for library books.

Supper for Sunday School Class at Finch's Hall

S. S. Eastland Seeks Chicago Inspections Ahead of Season
The S. S. Eastland sails from South Haven tomorrow at 9 30 a m for Chicago for inspection and to take on equipment and supplies for the season. From Tuesday's Daily the Children's Day exercises at the Congregational church Sunday were very pretty. The primary department performed with two motion songs and recitations. Older classes also did well. Rockwell's five piece orchestra played for professionals and offered two more selections. The church featured diverse cut flower decorations.

Mrs Mary Jane Wonch died after the third stroke of paralysis at the Old Peoples Home. Born June 27 1827 she would have turned 77. She lived in New York Michigan and Kansas, taught for many years, and was twice married. Funeral held at 2 pm at the Home chapel, Elder Howard officiating. Interment Lake View Cemetery.

Swede Arrested After Stumbling Drunk in Alley
Qric Smith, a Swede with a drinking habit, was found drunk by Officer Morey in an alley. He resisted arrest and required effort to move to the lockup. Before Justice Cady he gave an alias but admitted his name when memory returned. He received 30 days in jail and was cautioned to stay away from South Haven.

Altercation with Pitchfork Attack in Edgell Street
Edgell resident Ed Krugler was struck with a three tined pitchfork after a Sunday evening altercation likely caused by excessive alcohol. The blows cut his forehead and left scalp, requiring fifteen stitches and leaving lasting scars.
