Dredge Heads to Saugatuck for Harbor Sand Removal
The big dredge, after completing work in the river, heads to Saugatuck under a $5,000 contract to remove 25,000 to 30,000 yards of sand. Channel depth will be 12 feet inland and 14 to 16 feet at the outer bar. The operation requires moving dredge anchors to a scow, with tug Andrew H. Green arriving from Chicago and fleet including the dredge, one coal scow, two mud scows, and tug Ruby. Crewmates include foreman C Murphy and eight workers.
