Hundreds of illegal voters participate in district meetings due to confusion over qualifications. Women have the same privileges as men if qualified. Voters must be parents or guardians of children on the census or own school tax property, be U S citizens, 21 or older, and district residents three months prior. Joint property owners both may vote and hold office.
An examination for clerk and carrier will be held at the post office in this city on July 13, 1912. Age 18 to 45 on exam day. Married women barred except divorced or separated supporting them. appointment possible as clerk for some. Applicants must be physically fit. men at least 5 feet 4 inches tall and 125 pounds without coat or hat.

Benjam in F Earl former mayor of Niles died by hanging in his basement on Sunday after his financial troubles and mental decline. He had served two terms as mayor and earlier as undersheriff. Earl aged 68 lived with his wife and eight children.
Former Vanlly residents now in Kalamazoo helped fill the M E church with a large local audience Friday for a concert by the Kalamazoo First M E Church choir. Directed by Mrs. Harry R. Horton, the group displayed notable skill and many familiar voices. Soloists and ensembles including Clarence Hoekstra and Mrs. Ethel Hagerman Hockett received special praise for rich, expressive performances.
A gala launching at Saugatuck for the 105 by 20 foot Anna C Wilson, built by Capt W P Wilson to replace the John A Aliber. Expected in service around July 15 with two round trips daily, the vessel features a new engine, boiler, seven foot draft, and aims for 15 mph. Sponsor Miss Mary Randall christened the craft with champagne. The event attracted many villagers and visiting friends.
Between twenty and thirty members of Troop A took part in mounted drills at the ball park yesterday. Capt. Thompson was away, so 1st Lt. Arthur Hinz led, with Sgt. Austin on the field. Spectators watched from bleachers and rigs along the avenue as drills proceeded, with plans for biweekly practice. Next Wednesday the new lockers will be turned over at a regular drill, and each member will receive a locker allocated from funds raised by local businessmen. The lockers, described as the finest owned by any family in the state, are a point of local pride. Thompson will consult subscribers in the next two weeks.
After eight years as associate editor at The Gleaner E L Keasey was offered the managing editor position at a major agricultural publication in Detroit but declined due to farming commitments. He will remain with The Gleaner in an associate editor role and continues to contribute on fruit and garden topics and home life.
George Horn and his daughter Miss Ecas, who had stayed with Mr. and Mrs. E B Mapes, departed from Joe to resume their journey home.

U D Monroe left this noon for Chicago to attend the republican national convention as one of the alternates from the Fourth district. He will give readers of The Tribune some glimpses of the convention as seen by a country editor.
Mrs. W B Wilcox of Mayle Grove received a call from her son E A Wilcox of Buffalo Wyoming reporting her town destroyed by a cloud burst last Tuesday. Loss estimated at 150600 with many residents affected. Mr Stevenson who visited the area noted the devastation.
