Fruit Belt Line Changes Time for Summer Schedule

The Fruit Belt Line announces a summer schedule effective Monday June 17 with three through trains each weekday and two on Sundays, plus local Paw Paw to Kalamazoo and back service. Connections to boats are emphasized. a 60 cent excursion to Kalamazoo is offered June 14 with roundtrip rail fare. Pioneers Hold 3 1 2 Hour Reunion in Gobleville

The thirty seventh annual Van Buren County Pioneer Association reunion drew wide county representation at Gobleville. Senator J C Burrows gave the principal address recalling pioneer days and addressing national lawmakers. A J Monroe succeeded J J Woodman as president. officers and township vice presidents were reelected. A basket dinner followed at the opera house and G A R hall with tea and coffee served in Gobleville.

Chicago Doctors Read Papers at Kalamazoo Academy

The Kalamazoo Gazette reports two Chicago medical experts will present at the Kalamazoo Academy of Medicine meeting in South Haven next Tuesday at 10:30 am. Dr J Clarence Webster of Rush Medical College and Dr Henry F Lewis will read papers with Dr Balch and Dr Crane leading discussions.

Obituary of Luther J. Brown former Pacific House owner

Luther J. Brown, long time Pacific House proprietor in South Haven, died at the Masonic Home in Grand Rapids after years of feeble health. He was past 89 and came from Augusta to South Haven about 30 years ago, chiefly working in the hotel business. Burial is planned for Thursday afternoon in Augusta. He is survived by his wife who is living with friends near Covert. they had no children.

Annual Picnic of Scott Club Held at Monroe Farm

The Scott Club held its annual picnic at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Monroe two miles southeast of the city. Seventy members and guests enjoyed a dinner, brief business session, inaugural addresses by retiring president Mrs. W. G. Packard and new president Mrs. Henry Crabtree, and a short farm tour before social time.

Chance That Cain Family Will Return

Friends in this city of the Cain family hope that a business change at their new home in Santa Ana California foreshadows the early return of part of the family to South Haven. Ed E Cain has bought shares in H Cain and Co and partnered with E Shriver to run the Santa Ana shoe business. Rumors of a possible return have circulated for two years but no definite pledge has been made.

Lansing visit and local notes from Jericho and Bangor

Jericho residents Geo Q Eby Etta Wilcox and Gertrude Dahl reported a fine time in Lansing with a large crowd old friends and the President. N C Dahl came from Chicago to inspect improvements on his place. Mrs I W Pierce was ill last Sunday. Children Day will be observed at West Bangor churches next Sunday Evangelical in the forenoon and Congregational at 2 30. Mrs Laura Wilcox suffers neuralgia for nearly a week. Some farmers are rep lacing corn others have not planted yet.
