Commencement Week Opens With Baccalaureate at Congregational Church

Rev E B Hughes urged Visions of the unseen as essential to success during the Crass of 1912 baccalaureate at the Congregational church. The service drew full attendance with the high school chorus of 165 and graduates, plus a featured sermon and selections by the chorus under Miss Busssiman. The week continues with the Senior play At the Sign of the Jack-o-Lantern at the opera house and the eighth grade class day, leading to Friday’s Commencement and the Alumni banquet next Monday.

Mothers of Today Reminded at Local Meeting

A well attended Mothers of Today meeting at Mrs. Viola McGregor’s home featured papers on Mothers of the Bible and modern mothers. Speakers compared past and present maternal roles, with readings on Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, Hannah, Elizabeth, and Mary, plus verses about modern mothers and memories of loved ones. A reading by Mrs. Darby impressed attendees, and songs and recitations closed the event. Next gathering is at Bee Rostwell’s home on June 7, 1912.
