Cadillac adopts managerial plan charter for 1914
Cadillac will implement a city manager form on March 2 1914 making the manager responsible to the mayor and four ward commissioners. The first election under the charter is Feb 10 with a mayor four commissioners and school board members to be elected. the manager city clerk treasurer and assessor to be appointed. Recall, initiative and referendum provisions exist. taxes to be paid semi annually. The charter was approved Dec 9 by 59 electors with a 103 vote margin.

Funeral for L. K. Jillson Held at Local Methodist Church
The funeral of Leonard K. Jillson, born December 25 1837 in Albany New York, was held Sunday at the local Methodist church. Relatives from Kalamazoo and Hartford attended. burial followed at Lake View cemetery with active pallbearers from I O O F and honorary bearers from Zach Chandler Post G A R. Jillson served in the Civil War as private then Second Lieutenant of Co H 12th Michigan Infantry and lived in South Haven most of his life. He married Augusta Phillips of Waukegan Illinois in 1867. eight children survived him. he died December 1 1913 at Bronson hospital Kalamazoo aging nearly 76.
