Savit Sre reports November 28 that a cofferdam is being built to widen the government ship canal. The project will take all winter to finish the dam and the excavation contract will be let for work to start next fall. It aims to ease ship crowding above the locks and reduce current lock hiring. The project will take about two years, provide many jobs, and cost around 150000 dollars.

Muskegon Michigan on November 30 held a mass meeting of property owners and agreed to bond the city for 100000. The bonds would create a bonus fund via the chamber of commerce to lure new factories. A special election will be held within three weeks to vote on the measure.
The L. A. S. of the Congregational church met this afternoon with Mrs. G. D. Carnes and plans a bazaar and rummage sale next week. Those who have articles for the bazaar are requested to contact Mrs. W. G.
Geo H Myhan is postmaster elect for South Haven with Congress man Hamilton confirming the nomination. Deputy postmaster expected to be S H Wilson under new administration and community hopes for improved service. The present incumbent retires with best wishes as the long delay ends and Myhan expresses gratitude for support. An O B C club member in Traverse City notes a single favorite card game.
The Pomological Society elected officers for the coming year. President T A Farrad, Vice President Cecil J Huot, Secretary Gvro W Matthews, Treasurer E Lovejoy and E A Hartman. Committee members W H Snyder Geo W Giffie. The meeting also discussed New Markets and Transportation led by W H Snyder with R Crary John Dill E Lovejoy and others. Next meeting Dec 8 will cover Owen's Process with Mr Owen and T C Mosley expected.
