Fire destroys Ervin farm residence near city
The Ervin farm residence two miles south of the city burned last evening, with loss around $1000. No insurance. cause suspected from a faulty flue. Mrs. Ervin spotted the blaze at 7:30 p m and the family fought flames for hours before help arrived. Barn escaped major damage, stored goods saved include organ and furniture, while dining room contents were lost. Heavy rain aided suppression but damaged moved goods. The couple planned to spend winter in Springfield and will delay rebuilding plans despite the disaster.

Fine Exhibitions At Poultry Show At French's Hall
By Tuesday's Daily the French’s hall drew fruit growers to hear State Entomologist R H Pettit discuss the San Jose scale. The South Haven and Casco Pomological Society opened its season with strong attendance and lively interest. Pettit described the scale, showed pictures, urged early detection, and endorsed lime sulfur and salt as the standard remedy. He urged growers to master mixing and application and stated we must control the scale through prompt action. Afterward attendees shared experiences and sought further guidance from Pettit.

Poultry Show Opens as Judge Tucker Arrives in Town
Wednesday's Daily reports poultry show managers arranging fowls for Judge James A. Tucker of Concord Michigan to begin work upon arrival. Over 30 exhibitors are present, including out of town entrants Syringa Bluff South Haven and E T Pienkowsky Grand Junction. Exhibits feature pheasants White fan tail pigeons and Cochin Bantams. Admission is free to school children tomorrow afternoon from two to six. Season tickets sell for twenty five cents good for the entire week. Birds must be in by 10:30 a m and entries can still be scored if entrants miss earlier deadlines.

Fitch condemnation suit sets price at eight hundred dollars

Tin horn surprise marks Mrs Wynn Rouse tenth anniversary
Mrs Wynn Rouse of Erie street faced a door bell parade Tuesday when ten ladies gathered to toast her tenth wedding anniversary. Hunters Return From North With Seven Deer
The Snobble Van Ostrand Ross Ludwig Andrews Lewis hunting party returned from the north with seven deer. Mesars Ross and Ludwig each took two, while Snobble Hale and Van Ostrand had one apiece. They camped on the Dawson River 25 miles from the railroad and walked 14 miles to the station in 3 1 2 hours. One deer was eaten in camp. six were shipped home. No accidents marred the trip.
