Suit in Federal Court Over Mining Stock Fraud
Marshall B. Weber of Winona Minnesota filed in Minneapolis federal court last week to recover 7500 from Lester H. Bentley alleging false representations to invest in mining stock. Weber says in July 1907 Bentley claimed a large interest in Ontario land with rich ore, low mining costs, and monthly 1 percent dividends. Weber invested 5000 but was told Bentley secured the old Le Page Mining charter with 20000 in debt by May 1908. Bentley allegedly sold 550000 shares against a 400000 cap, causing Weber 2500 in damages and seeking the remainder plus his investment.
