Friday evening at Bar Haven study academy chapel a community play directed by Prof. J. E. Winter showcased skilled amateur acting. Cast included J C Van Wyck as Captain Hopper and W J Cheeneld as Hardy Stone with Carlton Cassenla as a New York businessman. Miss Rui Ge Kruif impressed as Arabella Wortendyke. Florence Van de Steeg and Miss Gertrude Klein delivered strong supporting turns. Over 300 attendees praised the performance and musical numbers by A J Kolgn Florence Ypina with Rhynsburger and Evalyn Van de Steeg as accompanists.

Michael Habnia a successful German farmer who left Wisconsin in 1871 settled ten miles west of Chetopa Kansas by December 28 1907. He came from Jefferson Wisconsin and built a thriving farm, yielding twenty five to thirty bushels of wheat per acre and sixty bushels of corn in good years.
