A Rough Country Epistle from Mann Ark January 1898
A reader letter from Mann Arkansas dated January 16 1898 describes a trip via the Trans Mississippi Exposition sites near Omaha and from Kansas City to the Indian Territory. The writer notes rough hilly rocky terrain timbered country small one room shanties heated by boards and fireplaces and numerous sawmills. The town built since 1896 has about 3500 inhabitants mostly northern, a Gulf Railroad division station with 40 to 50 mile trade reach. The climate is mild and healthful, leaving a favorable impression, with plans to write again from the Gulf.
