Local Heroes Headed to Camp McKinley in Des Moines
Crowds of about a thousand gathered as Company E of the Fourth Regiment I. N. G. prepared to move to Camp McKinley Des Moines. Families said emotional goodbyes while veterans and bands provided patriotic fare. The train departed with cheers at Ruthven Sanborn and Sanborn before the unit reached the state fair grounds for two weeks of drill.
