Thomas Archel, a Silverton sportsman, killed one of the largest bears seen in years after stalking from the Fisher Maiden area. He fired at the bruin during a hunt, then returned with Jack McFarlane to find the animal dead from a shot to the brain. The incident occurred as snow and hunting season conditions persisted, with sale signage from Cross & Co nearby.

Celebration Committee Wound Up After Surplus Paid
The Celebration Committee closed its accounts at Thorburn House last Tuesday evening with a $27 surplus after settling all bills including a $20 grant to the Slocan City Band. The surplus will go to the sidewalk committee to settle balances. no action on Four Mile wagon road repairs until an official grant of 4000 is announced.
