A leading French journal highlights twenty three cases of chronic caffeism with symptoms such as loss of appetite insomnia trembling of lips and tongue dyspepsia neuralgia stomach pain giddiness convulsions and obstinate constipation The coffee drinker appears thin with wrinkled grayish face and anxious dreams His pulse is weak and compressible The writer claims eyes and ears are more affected by coffee than by tobacco or alcohol yet symptoms fade after stopping coffee.
