Feeding in transit controversy sparks Western stockmen action
Nebraska stockmen led by National Live Stock Association President John W. Springer push to restore the feeding in transit privilege. Western associations from Texas, Utah, Colorado, South Dakota, Montana and beyond demand the old rate be reinstated, denouncing railroad proposals to raise freight charges on feeder cattle and lambs. The Transmissouri Traffic Association has the issue under review, with plans to rally broader support across western livestock groups.
