Humboldt County Tax Roll Up 31 Percent On Property
Assessor Guthrie has completed Humboldt county's 1901 tax roll and will turn it to the County Clerk next Monday. Personal property rose to 1 429 091 dollars and real estate to 8 486 799 dollars for a total of 9 915 890 dollars, a 31 percent increase over 1900 driven by railroad value upgrades and new assessments. The state tax rate drops to 8 cents per dollar while the county may cut about 10 percent after the equalization board meets. A separate note reports a poor show for Maloney's Wedding at Armory hall, with a small audience and the troupe moving on to Carlin. Government horses operations expand as 15–20 animals are prepared for inspectors, and 500 head of cattle and 785 Miller Lux cattle await shipment to California from local points. A wreck near Reno disrupted yesterday’s No. 6, delaying trains but causing no injuries. Kennedy ore shipment arrives from Kennedy mine, and Imperial mine stock is sold.
