The American Niter and Potash Company ships a first batch to San Francisco from Lovelock works and plans three carloads of niter and two of salt next month. The plant runs a simple process, yields high grade nitrate and table salt, and aims to expand to a hundred tons daily, with expected dividends for stockholders.
Professor Ladd of the North Dakota station reports that brome grass grown on the station farm yields about twice the protein content of average timothy hay nationwide. Brome hay surpasses native prairie hay by six percent and nearly matches red clover hay for protein, indicating high feed value and reliability in dry seasons or low rainfall regions.
A crudeOCR narrative describes an Indian protest letter directed at President Roosevelt. It claims a hunting trip to Colorado last year drew many eastern men, and alleges grievances about work, fishing, and mistreatment by their leaders in a western village.

An early 20th century remedy promotes Mrs Winslow's Soothing Syrup for teething children. It claims to ease pain, stop crying, cure diarrhoea, regulate the stomach, ease wind colic, soften gums, and boost energy. Sold by druggists worldwide for twenty five cents a bottle.
An old advertisement extols Green's August Flower as a universal tonic for indigestion and biliousness with claims it cleanses the system and regulates liver and nerves. It promotes Kemp's Balsam as a cure, touts De Witt's Little Early Risers, and lists Brown Bros. and others as sellers in Goshen Indiana.
The notice cites about 1200 people with throat and lung afflictions and recommends Kemp's Balsam for the throat and lungs with a 26 cent price and 60 cent trial size, sold by Brown Bros. It also praises Chamberlain's Pain Balm for sprains swelling and lameness, available from Brown Bros. Druggists.
An ad extols Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery claiming it cures dyspepsia and stomach diseases, improves appearance and feelings, and differs from stimulants. A Chicago reader reports six bottles and pellets improving health, energy, and youthfulness. Pleasant Pellets are advertised to cleanse bowels.
Portland readers hear a testimonial from Mrs. E. R. Thomas of 272 Oak Street praising Lane's Tea for clearing facial pimples after two weeks use. The letter, dated September 3, 1900, credits the product with whitening the skin and restoring a clear complexion. Brown Bros. sells Lane's Tea.
Advertises Kemp's Balsam for the Throat and Lungs as a universal remedy for coughs croup bronchitis whooping cough asthma and consumption sold by druggists with sample bottles offered. Also promotes Lane's Tea for bowel health and complexion and De Witt's Witch Hazel Salve for piles with Brown Bros as sellers.
