Mines and Mining Notes Show Reno Smelting Progress
A Boston group led by George J. Benton and others traveled from Lovelock to Reno to inspect Electric Mining and Reduction Company work bought from H. H. Beck. The Maine-incorporated firm plans extensive plant improvements including a Buckner roaster and new 60 ton smelter, boosting value with a Connecticut electric plant arrival. Frank Swindler and Jim Healey head De La Mar and Wethey option operations. Col. Nick Treweek plans a Boston investor party to Idaho for Lucky Boy deals amid renewed ore development optimism. Rich Nevada Mines manager Griffiths reports progress at De La Mar, with 9,000 tons per month output and plans for new ground development. Copper to Boom reports indicate Snyder’s copper market outlook remains steady, with ongoing demand and new uses. Utah mining prospects hover between optimism and late-stage exploration. Buffalo Hump field prospects in Lewiston show ore bodies largely refractory with complex metal associations. Genoa copper prospects need continued development and expert inspection. Gold dust from Captain De La Mar’s Golden Gate at Mercur shipments to Kansas City set a new peak, with 6,000 pounds valued at $120,000 to $150,000 as mill officials anticipate further records.
