American hogs threaten to block German navy, says editorial
In a March 16 1900 column the Sacramento Bee contrasts the idea of an American hog blockade with a German navy expansion threat. It argues the link is illogical, criticizes witch hunt legislation, and mocks a Topeka Capital editorial approach attributed to Rev Charles M Sheldon. It also notes beef market recovery expectations as ports reopen and cattle vessels return, forecasting April May strength.
