Free Staters Tire of the War at Bloomfontein

In Bloomfontein on March 13 General Joubert was due but the line north of the town blew up delaying him. He stayed at Brandfort with 2000 Natal forces. Free Staters south of town are reportedly returning to farms while General Groebelaar seeks escape north with a large command and convoy. Townspeople expect no resistance.

Foreign Office denies U S report on Kaiser chase

London March 16 The Daily Mail published a report that the British warship Thetis chased the German steamer Kaiser off Delakoa Bay with Boer Commissioners aboard and printed a Foreign Office denial of the claim. The officials of the Foreign Office could not be reached for further comment.
