An advertisement touts Scott's Emulsion as a nourishing winter food for children. It claims the product supports growth and strength, with a note to verify the wrapper shows fish and the Scott label. Sold by druggists for 60 or 1.00 dollars.
The advertisement touts Chamberlain's Eye and Skin Ointment as instantly allaying intense itching and smarting from eczema tetter salt rheum and other skin conditions. It claims many bad cases have been permanently cured and lists uses for itching piles sore nipples chapped hands chilblains frost bites and chronic sore eyes with a 25 cent price. It also promotes Dr Cady's Condition Powders as a tonic blood purifier and vermifuge for horses.
The cruiser St Louis reports marines reinforcing a coastal hill and placing guns for protection near their camps. The Texas and Marblehead shell the shore to deter Spanish skulkers while Dolphin shelled a nearby small town used as a base for attacks.
