Water Storage in Nevada Expert Reviews Work Done

F H Newell chief hydrographer USGS visited Reno to assess Nevada water supply measurement and Truckee river reservoir surveys. L H Taylor of Golconda leads the Nevada operations preparing a full Truckee river report and reservoir cost and capacity estimates. Similar arid West surveys advance with California’s Water and Forest Association aiding the USGS and pushing water conservation. Plans target state legislature and Congress for reservoir and hydraulic works, contingent on Nevada public support and irrigation association backing.

May Fight At Carson For Championship Title

The Carson News reports a likely prizefight bid for the championship in Carson with Fitzsimmons to meet Jeffries if both agree within six months. New York and Nevada are the only places for unlimited rounds. Carson could host two big contenders if weather and venues allow.

Weekly Crop Bulletin reports favorable harvest across state

Weather was generally clear and cool aiding harvesting. Wheat harvest nearly complete with high yield and quality. Hay crop near completion and also good. Corn and vegetables show strong progress, potatoes look to yield heavily. Fruit outlook favorable especially apples. Canning fruit and raisins progress in southern areas. Water shortages force pumping for stock and irrigation. Range feed dry and stock condition mixed. Containing notices on local mining and rail travel ads.
