John McCrimmons of Carson receives an original pension of eight dollars per month. White Pine sheriff hires out prisoners to mining firms. Nevada printer James E. Hickey dies of pneumonia in Salt Lake City. Seven prisoners in Biko county jail, five awaiting grand jury. Francia G Newlands donates twenty dollars to Elmer Horneyman, a returned Philippine volunteer. A Reno man is beaten into insensibility by footpads from whom seven dollars are taken. Inyo county plans a Quaker colony after purchasing 1,400 acres. Reno farrier makes paper compressed horseshoes one seventh the weight of steel. Nevada Reports No 24 nears completion with Supreme Court decisions up to April 1, 1899. Joe White sought in Austin for assaulting family with iron bar seen in Tone. sheriff in pursuit. Carson sportsmen say game law violated as ducks are slaughtered by the hundred before September 15. National Guard hall social dance last night ends with a long-waltz. winners’ names withheld for obvious reasons. John Hoops returns from Cape Nome claiming 15,000 men in Nome and chaotic conditions with no work on the beach.
