Dispatch from Avada dated Saturday reports the Short Line laying track from E to Crestline with a 1500 foot station. most workers to move there tomorrow. Clark forces occupy tunnels 1, 3, and a cut. tunnels 5 held by Short Line. No clash yet, Lincoln County residents expect a railroad and oppose armed resistance, with county officers likely to intervene.

Rich silver gold ore found at mine owned by officials

A Sentinel report notes the vein widening to about eighteen inches at depth with a rich silver gold ore, silver predominating. Samples shown claim horn silver and black metal that could run 1000 ounces per ton. Ore value estimated at 600 to 800 dollars per ton. Engineering Professor Heads to Study Humboldt Valley Irrigation

Prof J M Wilson of the State University engineering department met Mr Stannard of the Washington Agricultural Department in Wells. Stannard will spend three to four months in the Humboldt valley examining soils water storage capacity irrigable acres and other resources to aid national and state irrigation policy.

Southern Pacific Expands Tucson Shops and Line Upgrades

The Southern Pacific bought ground in Tucson for new shops costing 250000 and will start ballasting the Auburn to Colfax roadbed with crushed rock using fifty car loads daily. The company plans major improvements along the Central Pacific rail line this year with total outlay around 1000000. also won judgments in two condemnation cases for right of way on the Lucin Ogden cut off.
