The advertisement touts Syrup of Figs as a pure liquid laxative that cleanses the system, helps dispel colds headaches and constipation, and is gentle on kidneys liver and bowels. It claims medical approval, wide user satisfaction, and lists 50c and 1 bottles, produced only by the California Fig Syrup Co.
Tickets sold and baggage cheered through to sit eastern points. Travelers insurance tickets also sold. J. A. Permano, Agent.
United States Consul Tingle reports from Brunswick Germany that American packers could profit by supplying horse meat to Germany where demand is rising among poorer city residents at about seven cents a pound. He notes horses in America are abundant and cheaper to slaughter than cattle, with the trolley reducing horse populations. the report urges ranchers to raise horses for food and salt or smoke processing as in Germany. Humboldt County Board of County Commissioners invites proposals to purchase 52000 of interest bearing bonds to fund bonded debt. Bonds pay 7 percent interest, mature 3 to 18 years from June 1, and redeemable after 3 years. Bid deadline May 20 with 2 percent certified check. bonds issued in Winnemucca Nevada.
