Rickel Moyer Family Reunion at Beaver Dam Lake

The eighth annual Rickel Moyer family reunion was held Thursday August 27 1914 on the Reason Rickel farm by Beaver Dam Lake. About 150 friends and relatives attended with forenoon mingling and a bountiful dinner. After dinner the crowd was called to order by the president.

Town hall will host a gathering this Saturday evening for all who wish to discuss the proposed old set lers meeting. Attendees will decide on the matter and report back.

Seven S. S. Schools to Meet at West Eel River Church

A joint Sunday School gathering is planned at the West Eel River Church of the Brethren two miles east of town on Sunday September 6 with Pleasant View Sugar Creek South Whitley Plunge Creek Chapel Eel River and West Eel River schools participating. The all day event begins at 9 in the morning with an afternoon session at 1 30 and a basket dinner plus a welcome for all.

Mysterious Fire Destroys Upper Story at Leffel Home

Fire originating unknown swept the Jacob Leffel farm home four miles southeast of town Friday morning destroying the upper story. Mrs. Leffel and daughter were canning peaches nearby as neighbors fought the flames, saving the household goods. A prior wood shed fire on the same farm had occurred weeks earlier with no cause found.

Reunion Reports Births And Deaths Before Officers Re election

The report shows one marriage eleven births and four deaths among reunion relatives. Officers were reappointed with the same slate: President Reason Rickel Vice President Lloyd Rickel Sec and Treas H A Moyer and a committee including Kora Clinker G F Sellers and Hert Bickel . Verting Jamison of Warsaw attended and gave recitations. Next reunion set for August fourth Thursday 1914 on the same ground. Attendees from outside the state included W A Eaton Quincy Ohio Mrs Catherine Harrington and son Danville Illinois Mrs Minnie Nical and daughter Verba Denver Iowa.

Shireman Family Reunion Held At David Shireman Home

Noah Shireman returned home from Lakeville after attending the Shireman family reunion at the David Shireman residence. The gathering was large and enjoyable with a plentiful noon dinner and leftovers for many. Plans were made to hold the next reunion in August 1915 in Myrtle-Glenn park near this location.

C. E. Jamison has bought the Interurban Cafe at 114 Hast Center St Warsaw from F. P. Morgan. He will be assisted by his son Verling Jamison. The eatery offers up to date meals and invites locals to meet them in Warsaw.

The Ladies Aid Society of the U S Church reorganized and elected President Belle Leffel Vice President Ellen Hamman Secretary Nellie Drudge Assistant Sec Ola Kissinger Treasurer Lizzie Adams. Since last September the society paid $366.30 into the church treasury and covered all expenses.

Local Woman Adjudged Insane After Inquest

Mrs Charles Ring of Logansport was admitted to a hospital about a year ago after typhoid fever left her mind deteriorating. An inquest found she suffered delusions and hysterical outbursts followed by fits of laughter. Local residents extend sympathy to Mrs Rings parents Mr and Mrs Gilford Mr Ring and the children.

Death of Esther Shakes Huntington Family

Esther an two year old girl from Huntington died after a brief illness. Her funeral was held Tuesday with several local residents in attendance.

Public Caucus Planned for September 5, 1914 Nomination

A public caucus is scheduled for Saturday at 2:30 to nominate candidates. The meeting aims to affiliate the ticket and select an assessor, with the publican caucus held to nominate and organize the slate.
