Wreck on the Lake Shore Wounds Mail Train
The New York and Boston Express on the Lake Shore road derailed at South Chicago last Tuesday morning due to an open switch. Fireman H. J. Jerough of Elkhart was killed. A tramp riding the front end was ground to pieces. Several others were injured. W. Middleton, postal clerk and brother of Vernon Middleton of The Record, was on duty in a mail car and may be among the injured.

Centenarian Jonas Straus of Noble County Celebrates 100th Birthday
Jonas Straus, living with his daughter in Swan township Noble county, turned 100 last week. A native of Pennsylvania he moved to Noble county in 1836. Warren Addison Sebring, nearly 101 by March, remains spry though in poor health, his eyesight keen and fond of reading, yet worn by long labor and aging machinery.

Obituary of Clarence Boyer Dies at Age 13
Clarence Boyer born October 23, 1886 died October 19, 1900 four days shy of fourteen after four days of severe suffering. He leaves a father, mother, two brothers and one sister. one sister preceded him in death. He was loved by family, neighbors, friends, and especially schoolmates. He urged a holy life, read the testament, prayed, and asked for prayers. He wished to go home and angels called him to a shining shore. Funeral held at Gospel Hill church with Rev. C. J. Miner officiating. large attendance.
