A new law shifts road supervisor elections to December with voting set for December 14 1907. Changes include no penalties for non service allowed. daily pay rises from 1.50 to 2.00. trustees gain districting power and vacancy filling authority. multiple supervisors per township to be elected.
George E. Hicks of South Bend district of the anti saloon league spoke to a large Mentone audience last week. His address, aided by stereopticon views, launched a campaign against saloons in Franklin township.
Five defendants including Harry W. Amline and W. T. Amos were fined $25 and costs in Cincinnati federal court for publishing a lottery advertisement to spur trade. Line offered subdivided lots with a free ticket, Hertman promised an automobile chance, and Piper advertised a kitchen cabinet prize with each purchase.
J A Walter and wife were summoned to Berrien Centre last Saturday due to the sudden illness of Mr Walter's mother from heart trouble. By Monday her health had improved but a telegram Tuesday announced her sudden death. They left on the 3 24 train for Berren Centre. Funeral details not known.

The couple will reside in Argos with Homman employed in a large local grocery.
