Advertising a Lottery Fines Hit Local Publishers and Merchants

Five defendants including Harry W. Amline and W. T. Amos were fined $25 and costs in Cincinnati federal court for publishing a lottery advertisement to spur trade. Line offered subdivided lots with a free ticket, Hertman promised an automobile chance, and Piper advertised a kitchen cabinet prize with each purchase.

Big Four Agent Receives Sad News On Tuesday

J A Walter and wife were summoned to Berrien Centre last Saturday due to the sudden illness of Mr Walter's mother from heart trouble. By Monday her health had improved but a telegram Tuesday announced her sudden death. They left on the 3 24 train for Berren Centre. Funeral details not known.
