Corn is nearly cut in the locality. Lloyd Lowman visited Chicago on Sunday. Frank Hill and family visited William Huffman and family. Lundsey and Riley Secore plan to move into the William Ring property southwest of Claypool. Jacob Newcomer improves his house with a new paint coat. A large Fairview church audience gathered Sunday for a lecture. Ed Hohman and son from Dallas did painting around town this fall. Mrs. James Frame of North Manchester visits with her daughter Mrs. S. J. Hohman and family. Will Rice near Anderson was in the area. Mrs. Rice seeks a local residence. John Warren and family visited William Hoffman’s. Mrs. Hoffman’s health slowly improves. The steam dredge south of the lake heads to Yellow Lake this week. John Warren’s farm improvements include cement walks with Noah Haman and son. James Reed buys properties on Mud and Yellow Lakes and plans moving. Edward Clink, Irvin Parker, Lela Martin and Elsie Clink are mentioned. Sylvester Johnston’s birthday visit helps him after illness. Fred Hills hosted a merry gathering with games last Thursday night.

William Snake and wife from Claypool on our streets Saturday. Miss Etla Miller, lately in Claypool, is home. Mrs Margaret King and Ella visit grandma Long Friday. Mrs Ella Johnston and Delphia visit grandma Warren Saturday. Little Wavie Warren recovering from typhoid fever. Sylvester Johnston ill but improving. Barias Cramer returned home Saturday after two weeks with Mr Pigeon. Many attended Fairview church and heard Isaac Aleazer of Jerusalem. H D Ring moves household goods to Claypool. son’s renting farm, will move into vacant house soon. Grandma Regenos of Barket returns home after visiting Charlie Regenos family. Monday visits to Mentone by Mrs Delta in and Mrs Catherine Hill and children, guests of Stephen Hill. Dinner guests at Charlie Regenos Sunday: Samuel Clink and family.
Public notices announce several sales near Silver Lake in October 1903. Items include horses, cattle, sheep, hogs, brood mares, cows, shoats, ewes, hay and farm implements. Sales run on October 21 to 23 with 10 o'clock start times and listed auctioneers J D Gill and George Royer.
A letter from Dodd of Ponder Missouri says a year long sore healed after using Backlen's Arnica Salve. He calls it the best salve on earth and notes it costs 25 cents at Rager's drug store.
In Silver Lake last week, Rittenhouse visited friend J A Meek and described a valuable water power he secured for a few hundred dollars. He values the site at 25000 and capitalists see it as a prime location for an electric power plant. Ed satieehune of Liberty Mills.
Miss Stella Alspaugh hosted a Saturday night party at her North Jefferson Street home. Attendees included Messrs James Donaldson Ted Donaldson R L Smith Edson Wiley Harley Rager Chester Eouse James Arthur Earl Alspaugh and Misses Ruth Babcock Marie Stout Georgia Leffer Edith Rhodes Fannie Shipley Ina Leckrone Nellie Thacker Frankie Carter.
Jonathan Robinson deputy mail carrier on Mr Flora route in Illinois this week encountered a frisky pole cat on his route last Monday. The animal gamboled before the horse, he did not disturb it recalling a similar younger incident. He was tempted to kick at a cat during a nighttime return from a visit to his best girl and was frightened by the result.
The Board of State Charities prepared a pamphlet for ministers statewide for Prison Sunday on October 25. The pamphlet promotes consideration of criminal treatment and crime prevention through public education and will be mailed free to any requester at the State House in Indianapolis.
The U B Church held a reception for Rev O B Wella and family at their West Center Street home. About 75 attendees included city pastors and other church members. Revs Switzer Conley and Mygrant spoke welcome, songs and piano solos by Miss Fern Wells followed a light repast.
James Sundy and Ida Halderman wed at the Halderman home on North Jefferson Street in a ceremony conducted by Rev. J. W. Tillman. The couple was married Saturday evening October 10 by the bride's parents Mr and Mrs Isaac Halderman.
A marriage ceremony took place on Saturday evening October 10 at the home of Mr Drudge s mother in South Silver Lake. Benjamin Drudge and Nellie Hawley were married by Squire Barrett in a simple ceremony.

The Warsaw area faces a soon eruption of a telephone exchange clash as Mutual lines seek entry by revoking old franchise. Whitley County Telephone, Stony Point Mutual, and Silver Lake People’s Mutual plan a combined exchange to connect Miami, Wabash, Whitley, and Kosciusko counties with no extra cost for subscribers.
Editor warns that Wabash and Winona line may bypass Silver Rake and Claypool if built north through Liberty Mills Sidney to Winona. Protest urged to prevent loss of an electric route. Authors argue farmers and workers would not be harmed and urge action before it is too late.

Mrs Sycnurs is the teacher. Room 2 lists 45 pupils with attendance and tardiness figures printed. names include Arthur Arthur Rush Armey Ray Drudge Fern Dillman and many others. Amy Sherboxdy is the teacher.

George Isley of Shelby Michigan visited Rose Hill to attend his brother L. W. Isley’s funeral and stay with relatives. He plans to stay in Indiana, praising its soil while noting Michigan Oceania County’s blight and the destruction of seven hundred peach and plum trees by the state inspector.
