August Bion a farmer killed tenant Bert Ferre and shot his wife and two children near Lagro yesterday. Harvey Ferre 15 among wounded. Goldie 14 and Dorothy 7 survived. Bion then killed himself after reportedly planning trouble and a loud chase by locals. Mrs Ferre and Harvey were in serious condition at press time.

Stricken in Auto Death of Amasa G. Wertenberger at Warsaw
Amasa G. Wertenberger known as Mace, died Saturday night after a Warsaw fair trip. Driving home with family and relatives, his right hand relaxed, the car struck a carriage near Palestine. He died two hours later from paralysis at Merle Tinkey’s home. He was a Mentone citizen and former hardware and farm implement dealer.

Evans pleads guilty in Warsaw circuit court murder attempt
In Warsaw on Monday Ezekiel Evans stood trial for attempting to murder Capt A G Wood on June 21. After witnesses testified his attorney dropped a not guilty and insanity plea, entering a guilty plea. Special Judge Walter Brubaker sentenced Evans to Michigan City penitentiary two to fourteen years and fined 350. A prior June shooting wounded Captain Wood in the right leg. Evans was jailed awaiting trial.
