Remains of Mrs Lucinda Deweese widow of Fir M Deweese were laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery following a funeral at the M E Church conducted by Rev Blocker. She died Monday night after several weeks illness at about seventy five years of age and is survived by a brother and two sisters.
Local health concerns rise as numerous cases of severe colds grip the area. Officials warn that Spainish influenza fears mount, with citizens worried about an emerging outbreak and its spread in the community.
Information confirms Floyd Henderson was wounded in the shoulder and treated in a Paris hospital. He also suffered an attack of pneumonia but is improving thanks to care from physicians and Red Cross nurses.
James Beigh of Claypool started for Camp Taylor Tuesday due to the serious illness of his son Edward who remains at the camp.
Ixosciusko County Medical Association members were entertained at Dr J C Hay and wife’s home on Friday evening. The guests were shown the newly equipped Hay dental parlors noted as among the most up to date in the area.

Mrs Amanda Sands widow of Isaac Sands died at her son A D Sands home near Yellow Creek Lake Tuesday at an advanced age. The funeral was held today at the Franklin church.
Mrs. T. B. Hathaway of the southeast residence has shown progress after a week of illness. She can sit up in bed for about a half hour each day.
A family reunion was held at the Decker home Monday with Paul Snyder on furlough and Hugh Snyder leaving that evening for dental college. A dozen relatives including children grandchildren and great grandchildren attended.
Large Sunday forenoon service at the Lutheran church as the service flag was dedicated. Reverend Fryberger preached a sermon and the names of Lutheran Sunday school and church members who entered government service were read with stars attached by relatives.
The Oliver Groswiler family ship their household effects to Marion and relocate there today. Mr Groswiler had worked for several years on the Big 4 section and recently accepted a foreman position on the Marion section.
All veterans from wars are urged to attend a meeting at the Warsaw Methodist church tomorrow Friday October 4 at 10 o clock a m. The aim is to organize a Kosciusko County Veterans Association.

A group of six Silver Lake high school graduates left for Valparaiso to enter a military school led by Maynard Young Russel Kerlin Albert Ramsey Dick Jontz Willie Harter Ray Hively Raymond McKrill. Early Tuesday four more graduates departed for Urbana Illinois to join the same program. The boys are under twenty one, of good character and industrious, with strong local support for their future success.
A mocked crown prince letter from France claims German troops faced Americans who stood firm on the run near the Rhine. The spoof praises American resolve and mocks German command under constant fire. The hoax notes misstatements of battle tactics and morale.
Mrs. H. G. Groninger, living southeast of town, has been getting along well and sitting up for several hours daily. She underwent an operation several weeks ago and it is hoped she will soon fully recover.
Jacob Gulmer, Civil War veteran, arrived at the Haney hotel in Marion after leaving the soldiers home, having previously stayed there for one to three weeks during several visits last week.
Howard Burt son of Mr and Mrs Frank Burt of Goshen passed through on the early train Monday en route to Cincinnati to attend a training school. He is making good grades and there is a chance he will go across this month after a furlough granted to him. His brother Russel, second son, left Goshen last Friday for Ashland Ohio to enter a training school. The Burt family lived here several years ago.
A letter from N. Rickel of Glennie Michigan sends a one year advance for RECORD and notes clover seed harvests. He sold 126 bushels for $17000 and expects a large next crop while stocking his farm with sheep. He praises Samuel’s progress and requests more letters.
Fifty men were arrested for spitting on the sidewalk in Chicago as part of a drive against influenza. Thirty were fined one dollar each.
Last week the Liberty Loan campaign urged strong subscriptions across the township. Old Kosciusko county reported being the eighth in the state to reach the over the top mark and continues steadily progressing in its subscriptions.
H C Snyder travels to Chicago on Monday to enter the dental college for his last year. He plans to graduate next spring and then enter government service.
Ownership of the Dean Hill garage passed to the F and Hardware Company and they took possession Monday. Dean Hill operated it for years before WWI, with Gus Hill and then others overseeing. W F Welser remains and the shop will continue servicing cars as before.
The M E church announces Sunday School at 9 30 a m and preaching at 10 30 a m. On Sunday October 6 the pastor will preach a timely sermon with a vital theme. The subject will be Our Government and a Scriptural Peace. You should hear this suggested discussion point.
